London has been waiting for a good, authentic Turkish for a while so no wonder people went crazy when they heard Yosma was opening its doors, all the way from Istanbul. We have both frequented the hustle and bustle of Istanbul over the years so we both know a good Turkish when we taste one!!
Situated 💥 in the middle of central LOndon, you know you're in a good place to eat. Marylebone - as we all know, is the hUB of good food.
FILLED WITH ATMOSPHERE
wE 💚 open kitchens as we like to see the fresh produce and attention to detail going into each dish. Yosma catch fresh fish daily, and all the meat is sourced from local suppliers. We were expecting (As you would in Turkey), a loud and booming presence coming from the kitchen, but here, nothing but calm, all under control. As each dish is ready to be served, the perfect amount of seasoning or spice will be added for the final touch. this is what you want to see. 👌🏽

thE Idea is that everything is to share. To start, you have a selection of cold and hot mezze to choose from. Exactly the same as how you would eat in iSTAnbul. Everything at the table at once, ready for families and friends to enjoy with a nice bottle of 🍷
Marinated sea bass, grapefruit, fennel, lime, green chilli, basil.
The freshest of the fresh, caught on the day, with the zestiest of flavours.
Melon, feta, basil
The melon and the feta combo rly was a winner for us.
Chickpea purée, tahini, lemon, garlic
no VISIT to an eastern european restaurant is complete without hUMMUs!! This was served with Yosma's speciality bread Firik Ekmeği, fermented bread - with the perfect amount of sea salt.
Pan fried haLLOUMI, mushrooms, garlic, lemon, olives
PRobz the best halloumi we've ever tasted, and Jade is the halloumi Queen ♛
Turkish dumplings, stuffed with lamb neck, yogurt sauce, chilli oil, mint.
Tbh - We were a bit scared of the lamb neck, but when we say these were the most insane things we have ever eaten, you must trust us and TAKE THAT LEAP!!!!! So good and in the creamiest most flavoursome sauce!

Enough is enough with the MEZZEs, we could have carried on far into the night with every single one of them, but we had to spread our wings and start ordering our food from the....
Lamb shoulder köfte, steamed potato, muhammara sauce
UMMMM no words for this flavour and the quality of the meat. this aint just kebab shop KOFTE but the real deal

Prawns, shaved fennel, dill, za'atar
prawns caught that day. you can taste the freshness and you can taste the sea, no flavour like it. this dish is a must HAvE.

Kebab Minced spiced lamb, pit-roasted onion, charred tomato, sivri biber
LIFE IS THIS DISH. All the flavours of Istanbul seem to merge into one. lAYERS Of minced meat, mixed with the softest bread and a tomato sauce. think of dipping that bread in that sauce. ONE CAN ONLY DREAM.

We also forgot to mention that we had ordered 3 x portions of Patates Kızartması - fried potatoes which were literally life on a plate. Also fy.i. there were 4 of us!!! wE kept 1cm of room in our stomachs to eat the most blogged about dessert:
Kadayif, white cheese, lemon syrup, pistachio
Filled with a melty cheese and worth the 15 min wait to prepare. IT WAS SO GOOD. Everything a dessert can ever be.
The end was near, but all plates were literally licked clean. throughout the evening the atmosphere got pumping and it seemed it was the place to be for a weekend. a good selection of music playing and people just seemed to be happy enjoying their food and wine. Yosma has a real buzz that has been re-created perfectly from its roots in Istanbul. Yosma is also very affordable, we went all out and it was approx £45 a head. We will be back in a kalp atışı (heartbeat) and we hope you will visit asap! - aND NO worries the Turkish language lesson is on the house.
