A's Guide to VENICE
Hey guys! Last week for my birthday I was lucky enough to go on a trip to Venice with the boyf (S) 💑🎈 Sometimes in the summer its nice to do a little cultured city break instead of lying on a beach. Venice was the perfect place and I actually fell in love from the second I stepped onto my boat from the airport!
For this trip we decided to travel from London City which is by far the most smooth running airport. Thumbs up to NO QUEUEING👍🏽
We took a baby BA plane and we were there in no time.
⇪ F.Y.I - This is the water taxi from the airport.. A MUST! An italian hottie in the cutest stripe little tee, so BUFF - the boyf agreed obviously. The views are to die!
WHERE TO REST YOUR HEAD
JW MARRIOT RESORT AND SPA - see more below↓
EXPENSIVE BUT AUTHENTIC
BREAKING THE BANK
OUR PERFECT PICK: THE JW MARRIOT
Truly the most special place, on its own island in the Venetian lagoon, called Isola delle Rose. You surely can't get more romantic than that? There were many reasons why we chose this hotel - its one of the only places to stay with a pool (this ones a rooftop), a michelin star restaurant, and only 5 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. Also, only renovated a year ago, it was all brand new, clean, bright and white with marble touches - SO US - It was truly perfect. 👌🏽
A ROOM WITH A PANORAMIC VIEW
oMG ! Can you get over this view? Overlooking the hotel's lush gardens, which literally goes on for acres. They grow their own vegetables and you can hire bikes to ride your way around the resort. It was breathtaking! Make sure you book a balcony room because it really is worth every minute! The room itself was perfect, a very comfy bed, all super clean, a walk in wardrobe... the best bathtub, the list goes on..
THE ROOFTOP POOL
The perfect place for an afternoon chill - after all of your walking and all of your sightseeing. SO relaxing with panoramic views of Venice. Not just a pool but also a bar and a restaurant. One of the best spots of the hotel. Find it here.
ORDER ➠ an Aperol Spritz
EAT ➠ Octopus Salad
🔝 𝟱 SIGHTS
For all your cultural needs, I have listed some must sees for your trip. Some days its also nice to just walk around and get lost - and you will get lost - make sure you take a portable charger and you won't survive without google maps 📍
Peggy Guggenheim collection
Roam around this wonderful gallery and have a look at Peggy's own personal art collection. Expect to see some Picasso, Magritte, Dali and Max Ernst.
ST MARK'S BASILICA
The most famous of Venice's churches, a symbol of Italian wealth and power and known for its opulent design. First built in 828!! Jeez!!
A stunning Venetian gothic designed palace, built in the 14th century, it housed courtrooms and prisons, also living quarters. Currently holds various exhibitions & a beautiful site to visit!
JEWISH GHETTO / JEWISH QUARTERS
The first ever Jewish Ghetto originating back to the 15th century, the jewish ghetto still remains the heart of jewish life in Venice. Such a special and heart warming place to visit - be sure to check out the memorial wall & the jewish museum.
BRIDGE OF SIGHS
The last view of Venice that the convicts got to see before they went to prison. Shame shame as its too buff. Apparently if you kiss on a gondola at sunset under the bridge, you are entitled to a life of bliss and harmony together. SOOOO ROMANTIC ♥︎♥ and cringe lol.
After hours of walking and seeing all of the beauty that Venice has to offer, you obviously need to eat and refuel. Please don't go to Italy on a diet because the food is beyond anything ever and you will die.. There are soo many restaurants it can be a little overwhelming, but make sure you AVOID places that have pics of the food or that are near the square filled with tourists. DO find little authentic places in the backstreets - and visit my favs below! ↓
-a neighbourhood osteria, traditional and creative food
-situated on the canal in the Jewish Quarter.
Must have: King prawn tagliatelle with zucchini flowers
- in Dorsoduro, the museum district
-The best tuna tartare, ravioli and amatriciana.

- Best dish: scallops & sea bass.
- Words cannot describe this setting, overlooking the Grand Canal and St Mark's square. The viewz breathtaking and the food is exquisite. Excuse the lack of food pics, I was lit eating everything asap.
