Tamarind Kitchen - Buff Bites
Its Thursday & it means ONE thing - a stunning new restaurant recommendation on Buff Bites. As we have been going Peruvian crazy the past few weeks, we thought we would switch it up and try the new sister to Tamarind of Mayfair --- Tamarind Kitchen in Wardour Street, Soho just opened in April 2017.
Tamarind Kitchen offers small street food sharing dishes but still keeps the traditional touches throughout the restaurant.
As we opted for a 6pm dinner reservation the restaurant was quite quiet, however as the evening went on the atmosphere increased. Tamarind Kitchen is a great spot, to relax enjoy good food and drinks with friends / family on the weekend or after work.
Trio of Fish
Tandoor-grilled hariyali sea bass, sarson ki pollock and zaffrani salmon
This dish was the perfect starter. Light and fresh, the grilled hariyali sea bass was a light texture with a crispy base, along with the pollock which accompanied the sea bass. The zaffrani Salmon was to die and melted in your mouth.
Crispy soft shell crab with potato, turmeric, yoghurt salad and homemade pickles
The soft shell crab was another great choice, and cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside with a soft texture on the inside. Just how we love our soft shell crab.
On to the MAINS
The Mains definitely didn't disappointed and we decided to go for a variety of dishes as we love choice rather than one main.
DUM GOSHT BIRYANI
Traditional lamb biryani with yoghurt dips and lamb bone marrow sauce
SLOW COOKED LAMB
SPICEs OF DREAMS
CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA
Chicken tikka simmered in a smoked tomato and garlic sauce
We rarely choose a Chicken Tikka Masala as we love a spicy dish but this was a great choice and we would highly recommend.
ALLEPPY FISH CURRY
South Indian cobia fish curry flavoured with tamarind, mustard and curry leaves
We finished on the Alleppy Fish curry which was the perfect finishing touch, lots of interesting flavours with the mix of the tamarind, mustard and curry spices.
We can't wait for our next trip
