As i’m sure you are aware from our Instagram stories and posts, we visited the dreamiest hotel last week called Calcot Manor in Tetbury, The Cotswolds. It arrived at the perfect time as the temperature had began to drop and it was just starting to feel like Winter. This is just what we needed to detox, relax and re connect.
The cotswolds is known for its English villages of golden stones and rolling hills and there is so much to explore from lively market towns, traditional english pubs, castles and country houses.
We were in the mood to relax and unwind. Upon arriving, you instantly fall in love with the building and the surroundings. Little stone cottages scattered together with one large manor house in the centre, and endless countryside surroundings, makes Calcot Manor a perfect getaway. From the moment of arriving we were instantly greeted by warm and welcoming staff which take you around the hotel to show you everything it has to offer. It was also Halloween and the decor inside and outside was mixed with pumpkins, autumnal flower design and of course some wellies. We were truly sold and couldn’t wait to unpack, see our room and head over to the spa and disconnect from the outside world.
Our room was located in the courthouse which meant that it was one of the original barn rooms and about 20 steps from the main house. The perfect location with high wooden beam ceilings. You walk into almost your very own cottage and when entering you are greeted with a warm, cosy, truly chic cotswolds room. We had a large sofa at the end of our large bed with extremely comfortable custom bedding. A dressing table, large TV and lots of wardrobe space (which is the most important for us) A huge bathroom consisting of a beautiful bath, shower and twin sinks. What more can you ask for?
One of the best things about a Cotswolds Country Retreat is not having to have to leave the hotel - staying snuggled up by the fire and having some nice French red - exploring everything the hotel has to offer. This is one of the things we loved so much about Calcot, is that everything is in one place and you can stay in your dressing gown for as long as you want. 😂
You have the choice of two restaurants which is perfect when you only want to walk ten steps to breakfast, lunch & dinner..

We genuinely have to say that our evening dinner was delicious and you could just taste the freshness of the produce. The service was impeccable and there was taste in every bite. The atmosphere in The Conservatory is very relaxed but also brimming with friendly people. The space is very bright and open, with the main feature of the restaurant being a glass ceiling, filled with vine leaves and beautiful decor. The attention to detail in every little corner is so Insta worthy - you could literally take pictures forever.
We also visited The Conservatory for breakfast the following morning and we were greeted by fresh fruit juices, endless cereal choices and a silky smooth latte. ☕️ You can order breakfast straight from the menu (which we LOVE) - and you have the choice of pretty much anything from Pancakes to Eggs Benedict. We’ll see you there 👍🏽
🔥 your typically English cosy pub where you can enjoy a nice homely steak alongside a good red sitting by the fire.
🍺 Serving real ales & cocktails
🌤a perfect summer (and winter) beer garden
🍗sunday roast anyone?
Local duck in beer, kohlrabi and celeriac remoulade beer barbecue sauce
Crispy salt and pepper calamari, sweet chilli mayonnaise, lime, salad
Truffled chicken Kiev, wild mushrooms, parsley mash, seasonal greens
Calcot fish & chips, tartare sauce, crushed peas, lemon
We were lucky enough to eat here on our second day so we really got a feel for both restaurants. This is truly what it says on the tin. The atmosphere is exactly like the pub next door serving up homely grub, beautiful Sunday Roasts and some real good fish and chips.
Enough with the food… (we’re so hungry writing this)… now time for the real deal breaker….
We LOVE a good spa. It’s safe to say we LOVED Calcot Spa and we have been to some good un’s. Again you really do not have to travel far to reach the spa, it is only a few steps from the Main House. Get ready to snuggle up in Calcot’s dressing gown and flip flops and lay by the fresh, crisp Indoor pool for a few hours before your treatment. You can even go and sit in the spa lounge and have some scones (oh yeah we did), with a crisp glass of white. The Spa also contains a fully equipped gym where there are classes every day consisting of ballet to yoga and pilates. Not to mention the rest:
Seven treatment rooms
16m indoor pool + children’s smaller indoor pool
Industry-leading spa-branded products
After an afternoon exploring the Spa, spending time in the sauna and steam rooms, it was time for our full body massage, which was so so good and relaxing, just what we needed. Calcot Spa have a very extensive treatment menu ranging from mani’s & pedi’s, to reflexology, to facials. Not to mention 10 different massages to choose from.
Although it’s the winter we spent a lot of our time in the outdoor hot tub which is placed directly in front of an open fire so it’s nice and cosy. A truly beautiful setting for a wonderful day at Calcot Spa. Calcot also offer spa days which would be a perfect Christmas gift.
If you know us, you know we don’t go anywhere without a photoshoot. Every single area you stumble upon at Calcot is a photo opp, which is one of the reasons we’ll be heading back here in a flash. We’ll be spending our winter months in tracksuits, teddy coats, oversized hoodies and chunky trainers… on the odd occasion you’ll find us in a mini skirt or crop top 🙌🏽
MAKING A COME BACK
As we are coming to the end of our post, we honestly would love to thank Calcot Manor for having us and we would definitely recommend you all to take that trip up to the beautiful Cotswolds and stay at this amazing place. We have been to a few different places in the Cotswolds but Calcot genuinely stood out because of the attention to detail and just for being so, so Chic. You just feel so relaxed and at peace. You can leave your room in a dressing gown and no make up and feel at home. It is also quite a small complex so you feel more cosy and involved, especially as everything is in such close proximity. The staff are beyond helpful and friendly, all areas are very clean, and the value for money is unbelievable. Rooms start from £209.00 per night based on two adults sharing, but Calcot also offer large family suites if you are looking for a break with the young ones.
